Just Before the Battle Mother- A Visit from a Civil War Soldier

O. J. Fargo is the author of two books on Iowa history, in addition to a book on everyday life of a Civil War soldier and 27 booklets on all aspects of Iowa and Western US history. He is currently working on his latest book concerning Iowa’s participation in the Civil War. He has given over 100 historical presentations throughout Iowa. His most recent project is the production of four CD-ROMs containing 320,000 pages of searchable text and 10,000 pictures. He is a contributor to several Iowa history web sites. He will bring a full searchable roster of all men who served in and from Iowa in the Civil War to enable participants to check for ancestors who served and gather data on regiments or Iowa Civil War military. On Wednesday, February 28th at 1pm, he will present a first-person presentation: “Just before the Battle, Mother – a visit from a Civil War Soldier.” You are encouraged to ask questions and engage in a dialogue with the soldier who will stay in character while answering. He is dressed in authentic Union army clothing and accouterments.
